We are spoiled

it was another 75 mile day, into Carlsbad, New Mexico, and once again we had kind winds most of the way.  We are in increasingly arid country, still a few oil wells, potash mining, and salt processing. We saw one small salt flat, looking like snow down in a small valley.

Very few ranch gates now, so this one was a pleasant surprise.

Definitely no picnic tables at the lunch spot today.  The truck pulled off at the entrance to a potash mine, the only place where we could get safely off the road.

We can look further than we can see, as my mother used to say.

Dinner at a Japanese restaurant.  Doesn’t everyone go to New Mexico to eat Asian food?  You do if half the group is vegetarian.
