A perfect day

We only rode 44 miles today, to the little town of Sterling City, population 1000.  How far we go is dictated in part by where Nancy has found accommodations, and tonight we are staying in an old bank building restored a few year ago as a hotel.  We had sunshine, temperatures in the 50’s and low 60’s, a benign wind, and smooth pavement, something we don’t take for granted.

We were in a motel with kitchens, so we made our breakfast.  Ken bought venison sausage yesterday, which was excellent.

We started the ride on a seven mile stretch of road on top of a levee.

Lots of yellow in a landscape getting more arid.

We saw this butte from about 20 miles down the road.

We had time to walk around the town and check out the sights.

Not your chain motel.
