A two hot chocolates day

It’s cold!  It was about 39 degrees when we started riding this morning, and 39 degrees 42 miles down the road when we arrived in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Combined with a 13 mph cross wind, it was one chilly day.  Fortunately, the roads were gentle.

I’m wearing a down jacket, not a good color for riding, as I never expected to use it while riding.
Usually, I dress in layers so that I can shed them along the way.  Today I warmed up enough to take off the neck gaiter.

We were on a long, straight quiet road.  At mile 25, we found a small cafe and convenience store where I had the first hot chocolate.

Our great support staff had a hot lunch for us, prepared in the camper—soup, grilled cheese, and more hot chocolate.

Evidence of longhorns—we will be in Texas tomorrow.
