Tailwind, August 16

We rode 50 miles to Cazenovia, at the southern end of the Finger Lakes. The first 40 miles were delightful riding, country roads, more of the canal, gentle tailwind. The last 10 were a little tougher, as pretty much all our climbing was concentrated at the end. Maybe I should have gotten an e- bike!

Some interesting 19th century engineering here.  If you look closely, you can see that there is a stream flowing under the canal.

Purple loosestrife may be an invasive species, but it is lovely growing along the canal.

We haven’t encountered many murals thus far on the trip, so I was happy to see this canal history one.

Our lunch spot was the lawn of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

We could see this waterfall at the Chittenango Falls State Park from the road. I was very happy to have a reason to stop on an 8-9 percent grade.  It was an exercise in willpower to get back on the bike.
