Goodbye, Fred— August 19

We rode 45 miles from Auburn to Canandaigua, pleasantly surprised that the predicted rain moved away from us, and by the time we arrived at our motel very near Lake Canandaigua, the sun was shining.

We were dressed for rain on our way out of Auburn, rode through a patch of flooded road, and saw lots of soggy yards and fields. I’m not sure how much rain fell as Fred moved slowly through the area.

This bridge in Seneca Falls was made famous in the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”.  We saw Clarence Street and George Bailey Street, but we didn’t hear any bells.

The National Women’s Hall of Fame is one of several sites that relate the history of the women’s suffrage movement.  I was sad that the building that housed the first Women’s Rights Convention and the Elizabeth Candy Stanton home are closed because of COVID.

Just one of those weirdly interesting sights along the road.
