Enjoying the Black Hills

We had another short day, a 44 mile ride into Rapid City.  Expecting temperatures in the high 90's, we left Custer before 7 am.  The first stretch of the ride was a rail trail, lots of trees and shade, a view of the Crazy Horse monument, and a long down hill.  Nancy laid out a great route, with most of the rest of the ride on country roads, no traffic, more trees and shade, and wonderful rock formations.  My legs are beginning to forgive me for the long fights against the head winds.  Now to keep the wind blowing out of the west...

Not sure if I would have recognized Crazy Horse from this distance if I didn't know what I was looking at.

Nice pictures, but the real magic was riding through a couple of hours of this scenery.
