Either Montana didn't want us to leave, or Wyoming didn't want us at all. We battled cross winds and headwinds for most of an 86 mile ride today. On July 4, we rode what many of us thought was the easiest 85 miles ever, and today many of us commented that today's ride was one of the toughest we've ever ridden. Fortunately, the sun was shining, and it wasn't impossibly hot. There's a big rodeo in Sheridan, where we are staying tonight, but I don't think any of us have the energy to check it out.
I didn't stop to take many photos today, but I loved this old grain silo.
I've added an extra brim to my helmet, as have several other riders on the trip. We like to think they look like cowboy hats. The brim does a great job of keeping the sun off my face and neck, but on windy downhills, I feel as though I'm about to launch.
There was no Montana sign when we entered over Thompson Pass on July 2, so we took photos on both sides of the road today.
What a tough day.... head winds sound awful. Love seeing you in the brim.
