Riding off the cue sheet

Saturday's ride, 61 miles from Trois Pistoles to the even smaller Ste. Flavie, was a first for me-- riding on a route suggested by the owner of our B&B rather than the route Nancy had suggested.  Her route was very near the water and reportedly was lovely, but as it had several miles of crushed limestone trails, my group voted 9-1 to take the alternative.  Guess who was the minority. Fortunately, our route did not lack for fine scenery and had very little traffic on rolling country roads. Our helpful tailwind stayed with us, and the last ten miles right along the coast were literally a breeze.

Nice riding country.

Hard not to smile on a day like this.

A monument to French sailors in the French and Indian War, known here as the Seven Years War. The town of Rimouski is in the background.

The lighthouse at Rimouski.

Excellent moules and a good local beer for dinner.
